Alpha Pride Safaris
The Experience
When you do go to Africa. When you make that commitment or decide that you definitely want to do it, and you don’t know really what you want to go do in Africa, Africa’s got so much to give. There’s so much opportunity on so many different things there that it is good sometimes to get guidance on what you want to do there. And we like people when they come in the first time on a hunting safari. We like to show the people places that fits their abilities. A lot of people cannot climb the mountains very good. Then it’s better to take them to the Kalahari or some of the flats that we aren’t in in the Popo or in the Eastern Cape.
You have to adjust and do something that fits your client, not fits you. And we like to hunt the animals in the natural environment. So I’m not gonna take you to go hunt the club springer in the Kalahari in the sand. I’m taking you to the Popo to hunt it in the mountains or to the Eastern Cape in the mountains because that’s where it was supposed to be.
So if a client books with us and tells us that his main animal is a neala or his main animal is a kudu, we will pick the best area for that species that he wants to hunt. And then we will plan other species around that. When you are done hunting your kudu in Africa or let’s use your kudu for example, when you are done hunting that animal, you come home, you need to know something about that species. With us, it’s not about just harvesting a trophy. There’s many people out there that you can just go and harvest the trophy with.
To me, it is the experience that comes with it. We are maybe more experienced chasers than what we are trophy chasers. I want a client to know what that kudu’s habits are and to outsmart the animal, properly outsmart the animal. Not get there and drive on a truck and shoot the first one that stands somewhere. That’s not what we want to do. If you want to do that, there is somebody out there that will help you. But for us, I want to take you and I want you to appreciate the species for what it is.
We hunt a lot of times with people that will say, “Ah, I don’t want to shoot a warthog.” They’re just not a nice animal. They’re not pretty. They’re not this or that. Each and every one of that species is unique in its own way. And there’s something special about all of them. And once a client spent the time in Africa with us and they actually get amongst all those animals and see how we react with them and learn all the things that we can teach you about them, you learn a new respect for each one of that species. And things that you thought wasn’t special very, very easily become special. I mean, there is so many unique things about each one of those species.
I think one of the things that is to clients, the most difficult part to book and commit to going over to Africa is the unknown.
Africa, you hear all the horror stories about it and the way media can blow things up and you think, wow, and you’ve seen some of the movies out there where the people are trading diamonds and how people get robbed and marked and all that stuff. Africa is nothing different from any other country. If you end up in the wrong areas, you can be in trouble.
But one of the things that I thrive on and that I feel very proud to tell people, I don’t run volume through my camps. I don’t try to hunt with thousands of people. I try to hunt with a small handful of people and give them really good quality from start to finish. And to give people really good quality start to finish means that the moment you book with us, we’re gonna start the whole process with you and we’re gonna guide you from the start to the end through everything. From the moment you booked that plane tickets all the way through to where your taxidermists could up and pack or send your trophies that was mounted to your house. And we’re gonna help you with the whole process from start to finish.
